Tags: TclDOM vs tDOM There are two well-known packages for processing XML documents in Tcl: TclXML [1] (and related packages) and tDOM. One very common question is “Which package should I use for XML processing, and why?”. This page summarizes the features and differences between the two packages in order to provide a (hopefully) unbiased […]

tDOM is at least as compliant as TclXML, which relies on GNOME projects libxml and libxslt
Some responses from the tDOM side are really arrogant. Steve Ball has […]

What Is DocBook?
DocBook is a DTD maintained by the DocBook Technical Committee of OASIS. It is particularly well suited to books and papers about computer hardware and software (though it is by no means limited to these applications).
Because it is a large and robust DTD, and because its main structures correspond to the […]

Don’t Learn XML?
Why not learn XML? The short answer is: because “learning XML” is a complicated task–a chore much more complicated than learning, say, HTML, and one that you don’t need to put yourself through if you’re just looking for a better system for document […]

We are trying to encourage the implementers of XSLT processors to use these extensions, so that your stylesheets can be more portable. Steven Ball’s TclXML. For a long time I thought it was a Tcl-only implementation, which would have performance concerns. I thought I had tried an earlier version of it. It looks like it does have an interface to EXPAT, which should provide the same performance as tDOM.
Installation seems to be a hassle, though. Will definitely […]
