English-to-American Dictionary
The English-to-American Dictionary
As a Scot who has spent some time in the USA on holiday lately, I have discovered a bewildering array of words which are in common use on our side of the pond and invariably mean nothing at all or something exceedingly rude on the other side. I once noted down about fifteen of them and that afternoon formulated them into this dictionary. Since then the dictionary has thrived (well, lived) on contributions from readers and is steadily growing into a decent reference. As well as reading the dictionary from this main index, you may want to visit:
- How to buy this fine work as a printed book
- Blurb - some further info on currency and geography in the UK
- Links - similar works or other pseudo-literary stuff
- How the dictionary works - for the techies
- The whole dictionary - one big page for printing out. I think it works out at around 45 A4 sheets
- Contributor list - those without whom this work would be even worse-informed than it is

Any chance you could remove the reference to my mail address in this? Trying to cut down on spam.
Kind regards,
