RESEARCH LAB
My research is centered on psycholinguistic aspects of the Chinese language, particularly the processes of getting at the meaning of words. My graduate students are working on a broader range of phenomena, including the perception of tones and other linguistic information, as well as bilingualism.

RECENT AND ONGOING RESEARCH
Project Title: “Visual field for meaning of Chinese words”
Foveal vision is limited to 2 degrees of visual angle, within which there is good acuity. The study aims at finding how far into parafoveal vision is it still possible to get to the meaning of Chinese words, and whether there is any distinct characteristics related to the orthography.
Intern Selection:
Interns should have interest in cognitive processes in recognition of words.
