is one of the best resources on writing systems I can find.
Nonetheless, it does not have a section on how different languages uses
spaces (and other devices, including hyphens, which is talked about
here) to mark "word" boundaries.

Which type of language fosters children's morphological awareness? I'd
say either then analytic or the agglutinative. In both cases the root
word/morpheme stays unchanged phonologically (and orthographically).
Synthetic languages, including English, will be hard, as there are
fewer clear markers of morphemes. This is related to the complexity of
the English writing system, which, according to Chomsky and […]

Berries have linguistic significance. Differ in their taste and
familarity, berries (and alike) have names that vary in morphological
compositioin. Some, like strawberry, are composed of two free morphemes; others have cranberry morphemes. While luke in lukewarm has nothing to do with the hero in Star Wars, boysen in boysenberry was a person.

The observation highlighted below is very interesting — one would
think just the opposite. Just because affixes are prominate in the
language, one would predict a more developed "awareness" of morphology.

twice (Time I and […]
